Feature Lighting was created to fill a huge gap in the market. There is a lot more to lampshade than meets the eye.
Our unique model of lamp shade configurability offers significantly more options than anyone else in the market, by far.
We're a bunch of friendly Northerners too - approachable & enthusiastic.
Our origins
As Feature Lighting's founder, I have been selling designer lighting by major Italian brands like Flos, Foscarini, Artemide & Luceplan for more than 25 years. Originally having studied a degree in 3D Design & specialising as a glass blower, I always had the yearning to get back to making products of my own, so when I realised that there was a gap in the market to produce custom lighting, configured to clients needs, when nothing off the shelf was ever going to suit the application, then bespoke and unique was the way to go and Feature Lighting was conceived to fill that gap. We started producing light shades for contract applications like cafes, restaurants & hotels through architectural specification, which developed into us producing private label lampshades for other brands. We make one offs for interior designers, whilst also selling wholesale lighting to design stores and student accommodation. Our work is varied, but ultimately we make really great quality lampshades for any application & to widen our reach we have launched an online shop to sell directly to the public and trade alike.

Steep Learning Curve
Getting to this point has been a steep learning curve, even with a degree in design & years of experience working with top class designer lighting manufacturers, starting to produce your own products is another level of intense. When the opportunity arose to buy a lampshade factory that had closed down, it was a bit of a mad idea, and a very steep learning curve, but a turning point & now with the ability to produce more items in-house gave us creative freedom.
For other areas where we need to outsource expertise we look to find passionate people to work with who are as committed as we are. All the suppliers we work with are like minded, dedicated & enthusiastic helping us so we can innovate & grow.
We still aim to have as much product as we can made in Great Britain, But we do source expertise from around the world.
The future for Feature Lighting
What's in store for the future at Feature Lighting ?
Well, along side our continuing development of lampshade production, we will be launching our own range of products designed in house by Jacqui: a wood veneer range, a range of spun metal lights, and an acoustic lighting collection - all powered with intelligent Led sources.
We also have some great collaborations upcoming with other creatives, artists & craftspeople - all with a passion for what they do.
We are always on the look out for the next big thing in lighting. We aim to push boundaries & develop new products, new techniques and use new materials to innovate with our products.
